Our Ethos

We actively challenge practices, policies and attitudes which restrict the rights of individuals on the basis of his/her disability, and aim to promote opportunities for everyone who uses our services, to acquire and develop new skills to enhance his/her life and feeling of self worth.

Practices within the organisation are based on knowledge, theory ad experience with the key to the ethos being that the individuals who we work to support will first and foremost be seen as people before being seen as people with disabilities.

Our practices will be encompassed by the following core values:

  • Each service user will have the opportunity to select independently from a range of options based on clear and accurate information.
  • Workers will acknowledge the intrinsic value of people, promoting their uniqueness and self-esteem.
  • We will respect the right of people to be left alone, undisturbed and free from unnecessary intrusion into their own affairs. This is balanced with recognition of their own and others' safety.
  • We will aim for each service user to feel safe and free from harm whilst maintaining the right to take reasonable risk. This includes being protected from exploitation and abuse with all treatments being delivered safely.
  • The organisation will provide opportunities for people to understand and exercise their rights and have as much control over their lives as possible.
  • We will work to enable people to lead full and purposeful lives, giving opportunities to realise ability and potential.
  • Each service user (and their children if applicable) will be at the centre of the support-planning activity, being listened to, empowered to comment, make suggestion and to complain without fear of recrimination or discrimination.
  • Each service user will be valued for their background, language, culture and faith and will be treated equally giving opportunity to live free from harassment and discrimination.

In order to continually improve services to the high standards expected by the organisation, Fairways has implemented a quality management system in accordance with BS EN ISO 9001:2008 at it's core sites: Duncreggan Residential Home, The Cloonavin Green Project and The Woodford Park Project (Including the respite provision).
