Respite Care

Many of the families who we support explain that availing of our respite facility sustains their ability to care for their family member full time.

This by its very nature can add increased pressure to regular family life. When the person who is being cared for by his/her family, exhibits challenging behaviours, life can become even more tiring and often stressful.

We offer a respite service, with two placements at our Woodford Park Project in Coleraine. The facility is a single bungalow with three bedrooms. We use two bedrooms for our service users, with our ‘sleep-in’ staff using the third. There is also a member of staff on wakened duty throughout the night will carry out as many supervisory checks as are necessary.

Respite breaks can be booked through the Northern Trust Social Work Department, based at Rathlea House, Rugby Avenue, Coleraine. In order to be eligible to avail of this service, the client must be at least 18 years of age, be diagnosed with a learning disability and be in receipt of services from the Adult Challenging Behaviour Service.

If you would like more information about our respite service, please get in touch with Lorraine, our team leader or use the 'Contact Us' page.
