How we do it

Services are delivered throughout the North West of Northern Ireland through a number of specially designed facilities, as well as outreach and home visits:

Each member of our team has earned valuable academic and practical qualifications, which are updated on a continual basis to ensure our service users receive the highest standards of support and care. We know the theory but we also know how to apply it with every unique person we work with.

Some of the frameworks and techniques we use include:

Respect® – The safest, most effective and ethical solutions to preventing and managing behaviours that challenge. Learn more

PBS – Positive Behaviour Support is a person-centred approach to people who may be at risk of exhibiting behaviours that give cause for concern. Learn more

Our ethos

Fairways exists to empower people with learning disabilities to live independent lives, with support available when they need it. We challenge any practices, policies or attitudes that restrict the rights of individuals on the basis of disability.

We promote opportunities for our service users to develop new skills and build meaningful relationships with others, enhancing their lives and feeling of self worth. We aim to enable people, not just support them.

We’re proud to have one of the most competent and experienced teams in the business. The people we hire have shown us that they are passionate about helping other people to lead better lives, and are willing to meet and exceed the high standards of care we hold.

Our core values:

  • Each service user will have the opportunity to select independently from a range of options based on clear and accurate information.
  • Workers will acknowledge the intrinsic value of people, promoting their uniqueness and self-esteem.
  • We will respect the right of people to be left alone, undisturbed and free from unnecessary intrusion into their own affairs. This is balanced with recognition of their own and others’ safety.
  • We will aim for each service user to feel safe and free from harm whilst maintaining the right to take reasonable risk. This includes being protected from exploitation and abuse with all treatments being delivered safely.
  • The organisation will provide opportunities for people to understand and exercise their rights and have as much control over their lives as possible.
  • Each service user (and their children if applicable) will be at the centre of the support-planning activity, being listened to, empowered to comment, make suggestion and to complain without fear of recrimination or discrimination.
  • Each service user will be valued for their background, language, culture and faith and will be treated equally giving opportunity to live free from harassment and discrimination.
